Alison U. Baker, 87

PORTLAND, OR - Alison Ulsh Baker of Portland died Tuesday, October 13 in her residence at Russellville Park, SE102nd Ave. @ Burnside St. She suffered many years from Alzheimer's Disease. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Peter B. Baker, a daughter Kimball , sons Walter and Peter B. Jr, and 6 grandchildren, Alison was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1927 daughter of C. Walter and Harriett Greenman Ulsh. She spent her early years in Garden City, Long Island and later Brookville, LI. She was educated in Garden City public schools, St Mary's Academy, and graduated from Miss Porter's School, Farmington, CT. She later graduated from Briarcliffe Jr. College and studied early childhood education at Wheelock College in Boston..She taught nursery school for several years before and after marriage. She and Peter were married in Brookville in June, 1951 and moved to Plainfield, NJ with later moves to Cohasset MA, Old Greenwich, CT, Worcester MA, Newfields, NH, and back to Worcester. They moved to Portland in 2008 be closer to family members on the West Coast.

Alison had a sunny disposition and was kind, thoughtful, caring, and a wonderful wife and mother. She had many friends from her youth and the many locations where she lived. All will miss her bright blue eyes and her smile.

A memorial service for her will be held at Ascension Episcopal Parish, 1823 SW Spring Street, Portland at 2PM, Monday, October 26. There will be a later service in Worcester.
