Andrew Donovan Obituary

Andrew P. Donovan, 60, of 33 Lexington Rd., died Thursday, Aug. 9th after being stricken ill.

He leaves his twin brother, Neal M. Donovan of Millbury and a cousin, Dr. Donald Deignan of R.I. He was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his parents, Daniel J. and Lucy M. (Proal) Donovan.

He graduated from Millbury Memorial High School in 1965 and then from Franklin Institute in Boston in 1967. Andrew worked for the New England Power Service Co. for 13 years. He then was co-owner with his brother, Neal of The Donovan's Pub for 15 years and then of the Belfont House for 29 years, until the present. He was an Army veteran and served in Vietnam.

He was the Legion Department of Mass. Ass't. Surgeon, a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans in Canada and the United States, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 13. He was also a member of the Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post in Sutton, the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1497 in South Grafton, the Millbury Veterans Council, a past member of District 4 Installing Team, a member the Worcester County Deputy Sheriff Assoc., the Auburn Lodge of Elks, a former member of the Southern Massachusetts Police Association, a member of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club, the Brown Square Civic Club and he attended the Millbury Old Timers Banquets.

His funeral will be held Monday, Aug. 13th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid's Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12th in the funeral home. Member of the Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post, will meet for their ritual at 6 p.m. Sunday, in the funeral home. Member of the Millbury Veterans Council will join them.
