Barbara Ramsey Obituary
EVERETT - Barbara A. (Boczkowski) Ramsey, 79 of Everett, MA, passed away after bravely battling a rare form of ovarian cancer. She left this earth on Friday, February 19, 2016, at the Shrewsbury Nursing Home; she was surrounded by her loving family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bronislaw and Lena (Badessa) Boczkowski of Chelsea, MA, one daughter, Dawn Ramsey, and her late husband of 56 years, Donald G. Ramsey who passed away on December 25, 2011.
She is survived by three daughters, Nina Ellard and her husband Jeffrey of Cranston, RI, Barbara Pandeli of Searsport, ME, and Lisa Ramsey Woodford and her significant other, Dante P. Simone of Shrewsbury, MA; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara was born in Chelsea, MA and graduated from St. Rose High School. After her marriage, she lived in military housing bases in Chicago and Arkansas, before settling in Everett, MA. Devoted to her family and friends, her quiet and consistent nature won her the love and esteem of many. By her example, Barbara taught her children to be loving and loyal, as well as kind and gracious to everyone they met. An avid reader, Barbara passed a love of books on to her daughters, who continue their mother's legacy by reading and sharing stories with their own families.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Charles Kurkul and Dr. Christina E. Fitch, of UMass Medical Memorial and to Linda Pellegrini, Bridey Holm, and Suaed Abdelhamed, of Shrewsbury Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for their support throughout this battle and for their friendship and compassion in her final days.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 4-6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately. Floral arrangements can be coordinated through PERRO'S FLOWERS, (508) 755-7744. I wish to express my deepest condolences to the entire Ramsey family. The world is a little darker with the passing of Babara. She was a true shining star.
