Benjamin Wright Obituary

Benjamin Allen Wright

Nov. 6, 1950 - Nov. 6, 2005

Benjamin A. Wright, 55, of Sultan, Washington, was tragically taken from us on November 6, 2005, as a result of a car/pedestrian accident on Highway 2 in Sultan. It was on his 55th birthday. He was a resident of Sultan for 30 years.
Ben was born on November 6, 1950, in Vancouver, Washington, to parents, Patricia and Donald Wright. He graduated from Federal Way High School in 1969, and was an outstanding athlete in football and wrestling, which he eventually went on to teach his boys. He also served in the U.S. Navy.
In his early years, Ben worked in fiberglass boat shops and eventually went on to be employed at Boeing in 1979. In his time at Boeing, he was a tool and die maker, an electrician, and a mechanic. Upon lay-off in 2001, he went to work for Blue Boy Golf Course as grounds keeper/landscaper. Working outside in the elements was never a problem for Ben. He loved the outdoors and loved working at the course. He took pride in all he did there. Golf was one of his passions. The others were hiking, climbing, and gold panning up in the hills surrounding the Skykomish River Valley.
Ben is survived by his first love and companion, Marcia; two sons, Christopher (Jennifer) Wright, of Monroe, Washington, and Josef, of Gold Bar, Washington; daughter, Jamie, of Sultan, Washington; his mom, Patricia, of Monroe, Washington; brother, Ron (Lynette), of Camas, Washington; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins around Washington State. "PAPA" was also survived by four grandchildren, Kayla, Tre', Tyler and Cody; and last but not least, his constant companion and best friend - his dog - "Blue".
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2005, at Blue Boy West Golf Course, 27927 Florence Acres Road, Monroe, Washington, followed by a potluck and a round of golf as a tribute to him and the game he loved to play. Call 360-793-2378 for directions if needed.
We love you Ben,
and will deeply miss you.

Ben, Nov 3rd would have been our 51st anniversary. I think if you still often. You are a "papa" now to 6 amazing grandkids and a great "papa" to Maverick Allen Thompson, Kayla and Nate´s little boy. He is so very handsome, like you.
I am very happy now, remarried a very good man from South Dakota. His name is Rich Solberg.: I believe you would like him. Please know I will always love you in my heart. The kids really miss you, especially Jamie. Stay close to her. Until we see each other again.

What a gentle man with such a great smile. I wish you peace Marcia in knowing his love. I was a classmate of you both.

I miss you my love, coming in every morning to get the grandkids breakfast then off to school. I miss you when you drove by the office and honked at around 9:30 on Wed. on your way to work. I miss the smell of your pipe and the talks we sometimes had. I just miss you Ben, the love of my life. I not only miss you, I Love You Still and Always will. My heart aches to hold you again like we did up in the hills. Remember?? That was to be the last time. But it was a time worth remembering. Summer of 2005 in Index. I love you deeply.

Though I didn't know Ben extremely well, he was always friendly and helpful to me at Blue Boy West. I appreciated his gentle humor and that twinkle in his eye.

The memory that keeps coming back to me is the ride you gave me on my 10th birthday. I think you, Marcia and myself went to get your engagement ring that day. You will be missed my friend!
