Bernard Welch Obituary

Bernard J. Welch, 86, of Framingham, died on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was the husband of the late Thelma R. (Newell) Welch.

Born in Holden, MA, he was the son of the late Bernard J. and Agnes L. (Murphy) Welch, he was a graduate of Rutland High School, Class of 1939 and the Stockbridge School of Agriculture in Amherst Class of 1948. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. A Framingham resident for over 30 years, he previously lived in Holliston and Medford. He was employed for many years as a Florist in the Boston area as a well known floral designer. He is survived by a son, John J. Welch of Gales Ferry, Connecticut; a daughter, Jeanne Newell Chapman and her husband James of Sterling; a sister, Mary Read of Warwick, Rhode Island and 5 grandchildren, Kimberly, Kristine and Kathryn Chapman, Brendan J. Welch and Meghan J. Welch.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 9:00 a.m in St. Bridget's Church, 830 Worcester Road, Framingham. Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. in St Mary's Cemetery in Holden. Calling hours at the Eugene J. McCarthy and Sons Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Framingham Animal Humane Society, 30 Pond St., Ashland, P.O. Box 1068, Framingham, MA 01702.

Mr. Welch,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
