Beulah Rutherford Obituary

Beulah A. (Bester) Rutherford, 82, of Ward Farm Circle in Worcester, passed away, Wednesday, October 10, 2007, in Knollwood Nursing Center, West Boylston.

She leaves her loving husband of forty-four years, Ernest Rutherford, Jr.; a daughter, Linda H. Hobson-Tankersley of Los Angeles; a grand daughter, Shawn Denna Dupree; two grandsons, Timothy W. Dupree and Gordon Dupree; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was born in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of Walter and Emma (Camp) Bester. She graduated from Northwestern Ohio Practical Nurse Training Center, and worked as an L.P.N. in Ohio.

Mrs. Rutherford was a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years at the former Worcester City Hospital, before retiring in 1980. She was a member of John Street Baptist Church, where she was Head Deaconess for many years. She was very active in her church and taught adult Sunday School, worked in the soup kitchen, sang in the church choir, and was involved in the Faith Fellowship Missionary.

The funeral for Beulah will be held on Monday, October 15, at 10 a.m. in John Street Baptist Church, 43 John Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hour will be held Sunday, October 14, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Rutherford's memory may be made to the John Street Baptist Church, 43 John Street, Worcester, MA 01609.

Deacon Rutherford, Linda, Shawn, Tim and Gordon,
May God continue to strengthen and comfort you during your loss. Deaconess Rutherford devoted all of her time to working in the church and to her family. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.

This passing of a lovely women of god, does not go un-noticed. My memory of her in the church will always keep her in my heart and prayer's. This family has suffered several times in the past few years, but it is just the lord calling them home. So sorry for the loss of Beulah Rutherford/Bester, and may all that knew her be blessed.

I would like to thank all who knew my mother as I am unable to be there do to due to medical reasons. I will miss talking to her on the phone and will remmber our last visit together this passed summer. My mother is at peace now and I am happy for that as her suffering is over. Again thank you all for being her friend.
