Bruce Vincent Obituary

Bruce R. Vincent

Westminster - Bruce R. Vincent, Owner of Vincent's Country Store 51, died peacefully, on Sunday, January 19, 2014, after a 6 year, courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Bruce leaves the one true love of his life, his wife of 33 years, Cindy (LaCourse) Vincent, two sons, Jeffrey Vincent, and his wife, Rebecca, and Brian Vincent, all of Westminster, one Daughter, Danielle Vincent of Fitchburg, his future grandchild, due in July, one brother, Steve Vincent and his wife, Diane, of Westminster, one sister, Sally Vincent, of Fitchburg, his father, Bob Vincent of Westminster, step-mother, Joyce Vincent of Gardner, mother-in-law, Chris Wellens and her husband, Charles, of Westminster, father-in-law, David LaCourse and his wife, Joanne, of Hudson, Sister-in-law, Paula McGuirk and her husband, Patrick, two nephews, Brenden McGuirk and Riley McGuirk all of Westminster, along with many cousins, friends, and the many employees who that worked for him over the years who were like family to him.

Bruce was born in Fitchburg, on May 31, 1962, a son of the late Theresa (Valliere) Vincent.

He graduated from Oakmont Regional High School, in 1980; in 1981 he and Cindy were married. Bruce coached his sons and daughter in baseball and basketball. He opened Vincent's Country Store in 1992, serving the community and worked at the store until 2012, when he sold the business to his son Brian. In 2008, he was named Westminster Businessman of the year. Bruce loved working at the store, helping every customer he came in contact with. He loved his church, playing volleyball, traveling, anything to do with cars, and spending time with his family and friends. Bruce was kind, generous, courageous, hard-working, giving, and had a great sense of humor. He would do anything for anyone without being asked or wanting recognition for what he had done. He would do anything for his community.

Bruce fought a courageous fight against Alzheimer's disease for the last 6 years. He was very involved with the Alzheimer's Association in raising money and awareness for the disease. His family is finding comfort in knowing that Bruce has been restored to perfect health, and has gone to Heaven to be with his Creator. He wouldn't want us to be sad or grieve, but to rejoice knowing that he is at peace and is Home.

Bruce's Funeral will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 11:00 am, in the Bread of Life, Assembly of God Church, 22 State Road East, Westminster, MA.

Burial will follow in the Woodside Cemetery, 9 Narrows Road, Westminster, MA

Calling hours will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, on Thursday, January 23, in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA

In lieu of Flowers, Bruce's family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to either the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 01472, or the Westminster Benefit Fund, Inc, P.O. Box 63, Westminster, MA 01473 (Neighbors Helping Neighbors)

I coached little league with Bruce one year and there was no doubt he was there for the kids. They loved him. Before each game, he would gather us and on the count of 3 we would yell spaghettio's! Bruce will be sorely missed. May god bless you and your family in this time of sorrow

I count myself lucky to have worked for Bruce in my high school and early college years. I am grateful for the times he was hard on me and for the lessons he taught me in both customer service and as a person. The world is less bright from the ground up without him but his spirit is shining down on all of us as he is restored to whole where he is now. Rest well, Bruce... and have fun pranking all your company in the sky ;)

This is such sad news. My first boss ever, and one of the best bosses. Although we had our disagreements, I learned alot. Customer Service was always a priority, along with keeping the store looking perfect. I had alot of good times working there. I got yelled at alot for talking to much, or being silly on the microphone, But, who better to be yelled at than Bruce! My thoughts and love go out to the family, as they were so a family to me when I worked at the store. Thanks for teaching me all the skills, I am actually still using to day. (and, when I am grocery shopping, I find the urge to block the isles.) Thanks alot BRUCE!!! ALWAYS IN MY HEART!!!!

Bruce was my employer when I was young. I had moved here from Maine and my first job was cleaning hotel rooms. I went to Star Market looking for something better. It was so much better. I was a hard worker, but Bruce & Cindy saw me as a person, young and willing to learn. I grew up very serious about working, but Bruce gave me a place showing me that hard work can be fun.
