Daniel S. Jones

Daniel S. Jones, 64, of Worcester died peacefully Monday October 15, 2007 in the UMASS Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Daniel is survived by his wife of thirty four years, Carol (Pearson) Jones; a son, Scott Jones and his wife Marlies, of Hollywood Florida; two daughters, Lorraine Houle of Rutland, and Cheryl Falcone and her husband Steven of Charlton; eight grandchildren, Kristie, Jessica, Paul, Kevin, Jason, Meaghan, Elizabeth, and Nick. Daniel also leaves a step-son, David Obenauer and his wife Glenda of South Dakota, and step-grandchildren, Josh, Jonathan, Daniel, Josie, Amber, and Jake; a brother, Kenneth "Skip" Jones and his wife Patricia; and many nephews and nieces. A daughter Barbara Henry predeceased him.

Daniel was born in Worcester son of Harold and Sylvia "Betty" (Smith) Jones, and has lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School, and served in the Army National Guards. Daniel was a Product Specialist at the Norton Company for over thirty years before he retired. He was also the owner of the Sports Tavern on Main Street for many years.

Among his many interests Daniel enjoyed tennis, golf, boating, and all kinds of sports, he was an enthusiastic chess and ping pong player, and loved animals. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Daniel's funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5-8 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, Ma. 01606, or to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 7 Oak Street, Worcester, Ma. 01609.
