Daniel Looney Obituary

Daniel P. "Speedy" Looney, 58, of School St. died Monday in his home.

He leaves his loving wife of 39 years, Joyce A. (Turcotte) Looney; his two daughters, Kelly A. Carr and her husband Curt of Charlton, and Colleen M. Deso and her husband Michael of Charlton; his mother, Helen I. (Connors) Looney; his four brothers, Michael K. and Timothy J. Looney both of Auburn, and Terrance P. and Thomas P. Looney, both of Spencer; his two sisters, Kathleen J. Conley of Dudley, and Anne M. Looney of Auburn; his cherished two grandsons, John Michael and Colin Daniel Deso; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John B. Looney.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late John B. Looney and graduated from Auburn High School, Class of 1967.

Speedy has worked as a field engineer for the National Grid Company, formerly Massachusetts Electric, where he had worked for 37 years.

He was an avid golfer and loved to play hockey. He was a member of the Worcester Senior Hockey League. His greatest joy has been spending time with his two grandsons.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 6th from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral will be celebrated on Friday, December 7th at 10 AM in Saint Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn.

Speedy's family request that instead of flowers that memorial gifts be made to the Mercy Center, 25 West Chester St., Worcester, MA 01605. For directions or to leave a message of sympathy for Speedy's family, please visit
