Duane was one of the foremost philosophers of the present age, and wise enough to recognize the perennial nature of the Aristotelian-Thomistic tradition. Thanks to his knowledge of St. Thomas Aquinas, he was also a excellent theologian.
He was, moreover and more importantly, a good man, firmly anchored in his Faith, his Hope in the promises of his Savior of a better world to come, and his Love of God and his fellow men.
I had the privilege of being his friend for 67 years, and of profiting from his wisdom. I have every hope of renewing that friendship soon in the Kingdom of Heaven.
My profound sympathy for Rosalie, their children and grandchildren.

Dear Rosalie and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Duane was a great teacher, mentor and a great friend through the years. I was a student of Duane when he first came to Assumption College in 1964. Duane will be greatly missed by the many who had the pleasure of his presence. May he rest in peace. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
