Elaine Sullivan Obituary
Born on December 8, 1934 in Maspeth, Queens, New York, the daughter of the late Francis and Mary Cibulskis. She was the widow of Cornelius "Neil" Sullivan, who died in 1988. She is survived by her children, Rev. Neil S. Sullivan of Harrisburg, and MaKathy S. Donley, wife of David Donley of East Pennsboro Twp; her greatly beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Abigail Donley. In addition, she is survived by sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Connolly and Catherine Hastings (Richard), Auburn, MA, Mary Wood, Binghamton, NY, Shirley Sullivan, North Grafton, MA and Janice Sullivan, Shrewsbury, MA; and many nieces and nephews and numerous wonderful and supportive friends.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg with her son, Rev. Neil S. Sullivan as Principal Celebrant. Burial Resurrection Cemetery, Harrisburg. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m in the Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, 23rd and Derry Streets, Harrisburg, PA. Vigil for the Deceased Thursday 8:30 pm.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Saint Patrick Cathedral Interior Restoration and Renewal Project in care of the Diocese of Harrisburg, P.O. Box 3651, Harrisburg, PA 17105.

I remember the first day Mrs. Sullivan walked into my class as a young child. She had a way of touching your heart that will stay with you for the rest of your life. I was fortunate that my son would have her as a teacher years later. She touched us both at a young age that stayed with us. She is deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Elaine was a combination of Martha AND Mary from the Gospel, i.e., the two sisters of Lazarus and good friends of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a hard worker like Martha and she was a devout woman of prayer, like Mary. She was enormously helpful to me when I was chaplain of Harrisburg Hospital and Polyclinic Med Ctr. as well as my time at St. Joan of Arc while she managed Pastoral Care for Catholic patients at Hershey Med Ctr. A great loss to the Diocese as well as to the Sullivan family but a great gain and blessing in heaven. I am sure Jesus greeted her with the words: "Well done, my good and faithful servant. Enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

Mrs Sullivan was one of the finest educators a parent could hope to have in front of their children. My sons had this benefit in their education at Holy Family. I am praying in thanks for the support, academically and spiritually Elaine gave to our young people. May she live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Mrs. Sullivan will always be known as my favorite teacher from Holy Family School. Mrs. Sullivan instilled a wonderful love for education, as she truly worked her hardest to bring out the potential in all of her students. She will always be remembered for her patience, strong morals, appreciation for family, dedication to her students and most memorable is her great sense of humor and contageous laugh! I will keep the Sullivan family in my prayers during this difficult time. Neil and McCathy, please know that your mother touched many lives and she will always be remembered with kindness!
