Eleanor Gengel Obituary

Eleanor M. (Haley) Gengel, 83, passed away peacefully October 13, 2007, after a period of declining health. Her husband Joseph V. Gengel passed in 1971.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Eileen M. Budzyna of Chattahoochee, FL, Janet P. Crispen and her husband Jim and Patricia E. Gauthier and her husband Kenneth all of Grafton; three siblings, William Haley and Frances Dion both of Northbridge and Robert Haley of Uxbridge; four grandsons, Timothy D. Glispin, Benjamin S. Gauthier, Brian P. Glispin, Casey R. Gauthier and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gengel was born January 23, 1924 in Northbridge, the daughter of the late William and Etta (Rawson) Haley and raised there before moving to Grafton in 1950. Mrs. Gengel graduated from Northbridge High School in 1941 and then St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. Eleanor enjoyed and was proud of a long career in nursing beginning as a RN in Medical Surgery at St. Vincent Hospital. She then worked at Edgewood Nursing Center in North Grafton before working many years at Keith Hill Nursing Home in Grafton Center retiring as Director of Nursing in 1987 a position she truly loved. Eleanor was a devoted parishioner of St. Philips Church, a member of St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Assoc., The Senior Citizens of Grafton and The F.O.G.E. (Friends of Grafton Elders).

Her funeral will be Wednesday, October 17th beginning at 9 a.m. in Roney Funeral Homes-North Chapel, 152 Worcester St. (Rt. 122 & 140), North Grafton, followed by the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in her Parish Church of St. Philip, 12 West St. (corner of Church St.) in Grafton Center. She will then be laid to rest with her husband in St. Philips Cemetery.

All are invited to calling hours Tuesday, October 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. in Roney Funeral Homes-North Chapel. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations made to The Grafton Food Bank, Grafton Municipal Center, 30 Providence Rd., Grafton, MA 01519.
