Gabrielle DiCicco Obituary

Gabrielle J. (Dionne) DiCicco at 99

Shrewsbury/Worcester - Gabrielle J (Dionne) DiCicco, of Shrewsbury, MA,formerly a 50 year resident of Lake Ave. in Worcester died peacefully Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the age of 99. She was born on March 12, 1919 in Providence, RI.

She was the wife of the late Dr. John P DiCicco, a longtime Worcester physician and WWII veteran, and daughter of the late Tancrede and Mary Jane (Grenier) Dionne. She was married for 58 years until her husband passed in May of 2001.

She leaves her three daughters, Antonia Cabot and her husband Thomas of Worcester, Pamela Oliveri and her husband Nicholas of Dennis, MA, and Lida Marciano of Lake in the Hills, IL; nine grandchildren, John, Vanessa and Rosa DiCicco, Jennifer Oliveri, Kirsten Howe, Nicole Lian, Rochelle Bard, Ian Kane and Alexandra Kane; eight great-grandchildren; her sister Sister Mary Janice Dionne O.P. of Newburgh, NY. She was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters, Sister Mary Jeanne O.P., Alice Trembly, Harve, Clinton, Raymond, Henri, Marcel, and Arthur Dionne, Germaine Dufresne. She endured the greatest sorrow for any mother when her firstborn child, Dr. John DiCicco passed in October 2009.

She graduated from Nurse's training in 1943 at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA, where she met her husband. They secretly eloped as nurses in training were not allowed to marry. She volunteered at St. Vincent's Hospital and Doctors' Hospital for many years and was a member of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence.

She spent many winters in Vero Beach, FL. She was an avid golfer, bowler and loved playing cards. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang for many years in her church choir as well as concerts at Southgate.

We would like to thank Southgate Assisted Living for providing her with the care to continue the last 17 years with independence and dignity, and Notre Dame Hospice for their loving and compassionate care at the end of her life.

To Dr. DiCicco's Family,
I was a patient of Dr. DiCicco, the son, for many years. He was not only a wonderful doctor to me, but may I add, the most handsome Dr. I ever had in my whole life. Even though I was so sad when he died, now that I see his mother died also, at least they are together.
Please accept my very sincere condolences.

Dear loved ones,
My sincere condolences for your loss. Dr. & Mrs. DiCicco played a very important role in my life. I worked for "JP" for eleven years and during that time he and Gabe and John, Toni, Pam, and Lida became a second family. From long office hours, dinner around the dining room table followed by cards, to fun times on the lake in the old boat....so many wonderful memories. I was blessed and will never forget. Love, Avis

Dear Pam, Nick, and Family:

Our deepest sympathy on your loss. May warm memories sustain you. When you think of your mom, may your memories bring a smile to your lips, before a tear to your eye. With warm thoughts, prayers, and love, John and Liz.
