George William Yancik

George William Yancik, 63, of Perryville Rd., born 4-20-44 to the late Martin and Mae (Monette) Yancik, died Friday, August 24, in Oakwood Rehab Nursing Center, Webster, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, Betty Lou (Chase) Yancik; two sons, Jon M. Yancik and his wife Beckie, Derek S. Yancik and his wife Karen all of Dudley; one daughter, Heather P. Lamica and her husband Craig of Webster; five grandchildren, Mitchell Yancik, twins Kyle W. and Andrew S. Yancik, Madison P. and Chase J. Lamica; a sister, Mary E. and her Husband Donald Moats of Hammond, Ind.; a brother, Paul D. Yancik of Ca. and 2 nephews, Paul Yancik and David M. Moats. He was predeceased by a son, Kyle J. Yancik.

He attended schools in Hammond Indiana and enlisted in the Navy from 1961 to 1965, serving his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1975 he returned to serve 4 years in the naval reserves. He worked 32 years as a Electrical Technician at the General Motors plant in Framingham and retired from Tonawanda, NY Engine Plant in 1999. George was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Westminster, Ma., where he faithfully served as a Host. He was an avid Patriot's fan and an enthusiastic woodsman.

A service of Christian Burial with Pastor Don Colageo will be held Tuesday, August 28 at 10 AM in Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, Aug. 27 from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Mission fund for futher spreading of the Gospel at Our Savior, PO Box 459, Westminster, MA 01473-0459.
