Harold Cooper Obituary

The Rev. Dr. Harold Frederic Cooper, 74, passed away on March 6, 2012 at his home in Yarmouth Port. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis G. (Viall) Cooper.

Besides his wife, survivors include children, Diana Rowe and husband George of Yarmouth Port, David Cooper and wife Debbie of West Yarmouth; grandchildren Amy and Travis Rowe, Brandy Cooper Bragaw and Adam Cooper of Virginia; two great grandchildren Cooper and Carson Bragaw of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Other survivors include sisters Carolyn Slongwhite and her husband Donald of Charlton, Mass., and Elaine Ives of Suffield Conn., and brother-in-law James R. Viall and his wife Lynn of Southern California.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 pm on Friday, March 16 at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., S. Yarmouth. A Memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 17, in the West Yarmouth Congregational Church, Rt. 28, W. Yarmouth. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the West Yarmouth Congregation Church, Building Fund 383 Route 28, W. Yarmouth, MA 02673 or to U. Mass Memorial Foundation, U. Mass Pancreas Program, 333 South St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

Hal was one of the nicest guys you could ever know. I consider myself lucky to have known him since we were teenagers at Holden High School. It didn't surprise me that Hal went on to do great things. It was his destiny. I will never forget him.
