Herbert Brooks Obituary
Herbie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary E. (Harding) Brooks of AZ; two daughters, Mary Ellen Brooks of AZ and Robbie Powers of Northborough; two grandchildren, Robert B. Powers of AZ and Ashley A. Powers of Northborough; and his brother, Richard B. Brooks of Northborough and his cousin, Adelaide Rogers of Worcester. Born in Warren and raised in Northborough by his Uncle and Aunt, William and Anna Staplin, Herb was the son of the late Herbert B. and Mae G. (Perrin) Brooks. Herbie was a resident of Northborough for 60 years before moving to AZ.
Herbie was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.
Herbie graduated from Northborough High School in 1949. He worked at Westinghouse in Westborough and as a salesman for the former Key Filters, Inc. in Grafton before retiring in 1990. Herbie was a member of the American Legion Post #234 and of St. Rose of Lima Church in Northborough.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main Street, Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street (Rte. 20) Northborough. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1818, Memphis, TN 38101 or American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
