Jacinto Diaz, 81

Worcester - Jacinto Diaz, 81, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at The Odd Fellows Home in Worcester. His devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Christina Diaz, predeceased him.

Jacinto is survived by three sons, Jacinto Diaz, Jr., and Josue Diaz, both of Orlando, and Eliezer Diaz of Worcester; four daughters, Minerva Aulet, Esther Diaz, and Noemi Gonzalez, all of Worcester, and Raquel Watkins of Holden; three brothers, Federico Diaz, Juan G. Diaz, and Concepcion Diaz, all of Puerto Rico; two sisters, Carmen Diaz in Puerto Rico and Sylvia Rivera of Worcester; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Eliseo Diaz; two grandsons, Jose Elias Diaz and Larry L. Owens, II; and several brothers and sisters. Jacinto was born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, son of the late Leoncio and Sebastiana (Valentin) Diaz, and lived there for many years, before moving to Worcester in 1974.

Jacinto worked for many years as a welder throughout the city and was an integral part of the steelworkers team as the "Worcester Centrum" was being constructed. He enjoyed dancing, socializing and being the center of attention. His greatest joy was his children and love of God.

Calling Hours will be on Monday morning, October 1, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., when his Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. , all services taking place in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment beside his loving wife, will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
