James Cardillo Obituary

James V. Cardillo Sr.
SHIRLEY - James V. Cardillo Sr., 85, of Catacunemaug Road, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer after being stricken ill at his home.
Mr. Cardillo was born in Clinton on June 19, 1927 a son of the late Carmine and Rose (Orechio) Cardillo and has resided in Shirley for many years.
Mr. Cardillo is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Dorothy L. (Wheeler) Cardillo of Shirley, two sons and daughters in law, John J. and Marian E. Cardillo Sr. of Shirley, Daniel G. and Jean P. Cardillo of Shirley, nine grandchildren, James Cardillo III, Jeffrey Cardillo, Andrew Cardillo, Tammy Wolf, John Cardillo Jr., Diane Polewarczyk, Emily Cardillo, Andrew Dorcas, Aaron Dorcas, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cardillo was the father of the late James V. Cardillo Jr, who died in 1978.
Mr. Cardillo was the brother of the late Salvadore Cardillo, Jenny Ambrosino, Mary Whalen.
For fifty one years Mr. Cardillo owned and operated the Cardillo Mobil Station in Clinton. Prior to that he worked as a sevice manager for Harr Ford, Chestnut Hill Ford and Hunter Ford.
Mr. Cardillo served his country in the US NAVY during WW II. He served in the Pacific Theater on the USS Rocky Mount, AGC3 and the USS Estes AGC12. He received his military training at the Sampson Navel Training Base in Sampson, NY.
Mr. Cardillo was a member of the Clinton Lodge of Elks Post 1306, he was a former director at the Shirley Coop Bank for sixteen years. He was also a former member of the finance commitee for the Town of Shirley and member of the Coast Guard Auxillary of Fitchburg.
Mr. Cardillo enjoyed traveling in his motor home, boating and meeting with school friends at McDonalds.
Mr. Cardillo was a communicant of St. Anthony Of Padua Church in Shirley.
He was a graduate of Clinton High School and attended Fitchburg High School automotive trade school after the war.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 Thursday, October 18 at St. Anthony's Church, 14 Phoenix St., Shirley. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 5-8 Wednesday, October 17 at The T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd. (RT 2A), Ayer. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.
