James Hedge Obituary

James D. Hedge, 72, of Worcester died on Sunday July 27 in his home after an illness.

Mr. Hedge is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marcia J. (Dickie) Hedge of Worcester; a daughter, Marcia Ann Oliver of Worcester; two sisters, Judith A. Dussault of Oxford and Susan Gallant of Fiskdale; seven grandchildren, Amy M. Hedge, Jessica L. Oliver, Benjamin M. Hedge, Nathan C. Hedge, Jenna L. Oliver, Jarrad J. Oliver, Jeremy F. Oliver; a great-grandson Anthony James Valentino all of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Ann Hedge who died in 2002, a sister, Mary Coyne and a brother, John F. Hedge, III.

Jim was born in Worcester, son of John F. Hedge, Jr. and Rita (Dineen) Hedge. He was educated in the Worcester Public Schools and served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War.

Mr. Hedge was the former owner of Worcester Moving and Storing Company and most recently worked for Ryder Logistics until his illness. He was a member and former Vestryman of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4311. Jim enjoyed spending time with his three cats Sparkle, Spooky, and Midnight.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 2nd at 10 a.m in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Zero Freeland Street. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather from 9 to 10 a.m in the church before the Memorial Mass. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church Discretionary Fund, Zero Freeland Street, Worcester, MA 01603 or VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
