James V. Mitchell, 75

CLINTON - James V. Mitchell, 75, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017, in UMass-Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his loving wife of 46 years, Linda J. (Carey) Mitchell; their sweet daughter, Caroline M. Aboody, and her husband, Paul, of Worcester; a son, Kenneth Mitchell of Boca Raton, FL; a sister, Paula Lynes, and her wife, Lisa Curtis, of Lynn; two brothers: John Lynes of West Taunton, and Thomas Lynes of Somerville; five amazing grandchildren: Stephanie, Sarah, and Colin Aboody, and Kevin and Sylvia Mitchell. He was predeceased by his sister, Wendy Lynes, who died in 1999.

Jimmy was born in Fitchburg, son of Albert V. Mitchell and Pauline (Keating) Lynes, and was raised there by his beloved Nana, Gertrude Keating. A graduate of Fitchburg High School, Class of 1960, and a US Navy Veteran, he served in the blockade of Cuba during the Missile Crisis. Later, he served with the Massachusetts Army National Guard. For more than 50 years, he resided in Clinton.

He worked in automobile sales prior to retirement.

"Kerry," as he was affectionately known by his family, was a member of the Polish American Veterans, and its Golf League, and was a former member of the Hudson Portuguese Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Always active, he enjoyed playing soccer, golf, tennis, and softball, and riding around with his wife, Linda, in their 2000 Miata convertible.

Jimmy's funeral will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in Reservoir Pines Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. John's Church, 149 Chestnut St., Clinton, MA 01510.

holidays roll around, he always comes into my thoughts..what a great guy. we met on the job at highland

Just heard about Jim. I'm so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I haven't seen Jim for quite some time, but last week for some reason, I was thinking of him. I thought I should contact him to get together.
So sorry I am. My prayers are with Jim, Linda and all his family

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I am so saddened to hear the news of Jimmy's
passing, my heart breaks for his loving wife Linda and his family. I met Jimmy through my husband Tom almost 40 years ago, And he always greeted everyone with a smile and I always felt he genuinely
Loved his friends.
After years of not seeing him and Linda, it was nice to reconnect with them at the PAV. Rest in Peace Jimmy , your battle is over and you have reconnected with all your friends and loved ones in heaven. May God bless you and your family now and forever more. You are free, soar high with the angels.You will be missed.
