Janice F. Dolan, 85

NORTHBOROUGH - Janice Frances (Carter) Dolan, 85, of Northborough, and formerly of Harwich Port and Hamden, Conn., died Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness.

Her husband of 55 years, Philip M. Dolan, died in 2009.

Janice leaves four children, Martha Burtness and her husband Martin of Kent Island, Md., Philip M. Dolan Jr. and his wife Heidi of Bradenton, Fla., Ann St. John and her husband Michael of Northborough, and Joanne Ingersoll and her husband Carl of Bourne; ten grandchildren, Inga, Elizabeth and Joanna, Tara, Patrick and Jill, Erin and Michael and Henry and Holly; seven great-grandchildren, Philip, Caroline, Mary and Mark, and Liam, Declan and Charlie; and many nieces and nephews including Carter Herring. Her sister Lorraine Herring MacDuffie died in 2000.

Janice was born in Worcester, daughter of Ralph W. and Helen M. (Witt) Carter. Early in her marriage, she lived in Northborough before moving to Hamden, Conn. She lived in Harwich Port for many years before moving back to Northborough two years ago.

Janice was a loving and generous wife, mother and friend. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and sharing her deep faith and love of the Lord. She took on new challenging work throughout her life with great success, starting with her time managing the Worcester office of the Girl Scouts of America, to developing a temporary staffing agency, and finally directing Meals on Wheels in Harwich.



The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
