Jean McGovern Obituary

Jean Ann McGovern, 73

Worcester - Jean Ann (Miller) McGovern, 73, known for her mental stamina, fighting the good fight with dignity, and the "Jean McGovern Way", accepted her time to move on to a peaceful place on May 15, 2015. Let it be known that she left us having had the "final word". Jean touched many lives in ways only she could. The kitchen is where we felt her the most. She believed food, made and shared with love, was how she could be in our hearts.

She loved many things including lobster, iced coffee, and a good sense of humor, but she loved her daughters most of all. Jean is at peace now. Let all take comfort in this fact.

Jean was born in Worcester on September 16, 1941, was raised in Millbury and attended Worcester Girls Trade High School. She lived most of her life in Worcester, where she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish, and worked for several years as a nurse's aide and a private duty home health aide.

She leaves four daughters: Cheryl J. McGovern of Rockville, UT, Wendy L. Bergeron and Kelly J. Smith, both of Worcester, and Kimberly A. Gagnon of Tewksbury; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; her father, Alexander J. Miller of Shrewsbury; four sisters: Arlene Szynal and Marjorie Love, both of Shrewsbury, Carol Santora of Worcester, and Nancy Yacino of Oxford; a brother, David Miller of Parawon, UT; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Helen R. (O'Connor) Miller.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, May 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., in Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury. Her Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Rubbed her her head as she always had the most softest skin and beauty and loved that... My mom was and will always be the most beautiful woman in the world in my eyes and in the eyes that knew her. I would like to take this moment to say that "MOM" u will always be in my heart for every second and moment of each day as u were and incredible strong woman that did the best you could and always loved ur children no matter what even though we had our good and bad times and we all make mistakes in our lives but one mistake that wasn't made is that u created 4 beautiful daughters that were there for u in the end and will never forget the good memories and forget the bad..... U are with Gramma Miller, Gramma McGovern and most of all Dad... Bottom line....no more suffering my dear MOM..... U are with God and no more pain.... I can't stop crying but that is a normal reaction for all of us that lose the ones that we love. And thanku Cheryl McGovern my sister that made sure that ur pain was no longer and and u went in a comfortable sleep and I love u soo very much for that. RIP MOM U are and will always be my best friend and the only one that really understood me for who I am and that I thank u for but I feel comfort knowing that u are now my GUARDIAN ANGEL WATCHING OVER ME NOW AND WILL KEEP ME SAFE.... Thanku MOM for giving me life.... Because of u I was able to give life to ur grandson Patrick Smith which was able to say goodbye to u today which was such a wonderful support to me......... GOD BLESS U MOM and thanku all for ur thoughts and prayers through this difficult time..... SLEEP WELL MOMMY.... ALL MY LOVE,,,,,,,,,,,,, UR BABY GIRL....KELLY
