John Morse Obituary

John Walter Morse, 85, of Hitchin' Post Lane, Uxbridge; formerly of Franklin, died on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He was the devoted husband of Beverly Ann (Flynn) Morse, to whom he was married on July 21, 1948 in Cobleskill, New York.

Born in Camden, New York on September 29, 1926, he was a son of the late Walter A. and Willimenia (Hessler) Morse. Mr. Morse was raised and educated in the town of Camden, where he was a 1944 graduate of Camden High School.

He had resided in Uxbridge for the past nine years, having moved most recently from Franklin.

Prior to his retirement in 1986, Mr. Morse had worked in several different fields of transportation including Greyhound buses, various truck companies and on trains. He had most recently worked as a transportation manager for ten years with the courier company, Purolator, in Boston. Previously, he had worked 15 years in sales for Schuster's Express in Colchester, Connecticut.

Mr. Morse was a member of the West Douglas Methodist Church in Douglas. He was also a volunteer Sunday School teacher.

A Civil War enthusiast, Mr. Morse attended the Gettysburg Civil War Institute for over ten years. He was also a member of the Young at Hearts organization.

In addition to his wife of over 63 years, he leaves three daughters: Kathleen Boyer of Leominster, Jan Marie O'Neil and her husband, John, of Glendale, Arizona, and Colleen Jill Beausoleil and her husband, Marc, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; two sons: James Morse and his wife, Carole, of Mendon and William Morse and his wife, Susan, of Marlborough; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Boyer) Parsons and her husband Marc, Kevin Boyer, Sean Morse, Joshua Morse, Christine Morse, Corey Beausoleil, Kyle Beausoleil, Alexander Morse, and Patrick Morse; as well as many dear friends.

Visitation has been respectfully omitted.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, 690 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland, Rhode Island.

Burial will be at a later date in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery in Cobleskill, New York.

Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the American Diabetes Association.
