John Nugent Obituary

John F. Nugent, 76, of Leominster, formerly of Clinton, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, in his home surrounded by his loving family, after an illness.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn P. (Kane) Nugent; five sons: Joseph Nugent and his wife, Toni, and Mark Nugent, all of Clinton, Gregory Nugent and Shawn Nugent, both of Marshfield, and Todd Nugent and his wife, Erin, of Hudson; two brothers, David Nugent of Brewster, formerly of Dracut, and Leonard Nugent of Nashua, NH; fourteen grandchildren: Jacob, Johnny, & Eden Nugent, Stephanie Spencer, Cole & Rachel Nugent, and Shannon, Andrew, Jack, David, Ben, James, Marie & Adam Nugent, along with all his nieces and nephews. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-granddaughter, due in September. A brother, George Nugent, predeceased him.

John was born and raised in Lowell, the son of George and Loretta (Medcalf) Nugent. A graduate of Lowell High School, he attended Bradshaw Business School, Lowell. He served as a Private First Class in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on March 23, 1953.

For 32 years, John worked at the former ITT Suprenant of Clinton as a wire extruder, retiring in 1997. Following retirement, he worked part-time for several years as a security guard at Weetabix of Clinton.

He was a former member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, and enjoyed his time with family and friends, especially when they included visits to the race track and vacationing in Gloucester and at Hampton Beach.

John's funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John to Allegiance Hospice Foundation, c/o Allegiance Hospice, 415 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
