Joseph Cappabianca Obituary

Joseph J. "Red" Cappabianca Sr., 89, of Worcester died peacefully, and went to be home with The Lord, Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Julia (Lanotte) Cappabianca; seven sons, Joseph J. Cappabianca, Jr. and his wife Donna of West Boylston, John M. Cappabianca and his wife Ann, Leo Cappabianca and his wife Margaret, Paul Cappabianca and his wife Gina, Michael Cappabianca and his wife Connie, all of Worcester, twin sons, Anthony Cappabianca and his wife Christine of West Boylston, and Mark Cappabianca of Worcester; a daughter, Juliana Hood and her husband Peter of Gloucester; a daughter-in-law, Estelle (Prince) Cappabianca of Worcester; fifteen grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; a sister, Rita Sharameta and her husband Richard; nephews and nieces. Joseph was predeceased by a son, Pasquale F. Cappabianca, as well as three sisters, Antoinette Mobilio, Michelena DiVerdi, and Carmella Houlihan.

Joseph was born in Worcester son of Pasquale and Marie (Oliveri) Cappabianca and lived here all his life. Joe was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. He worked as a Tool and Die maker for many years at Lundquist Manufacturing Company before retiring in 1983. During WWII he worked at the Worcester Pressed Steel Company.

Joseph was a devout Catholic and was a life member of Our Lady Of Mt Carmel- St Ann Church, and it's Holy Name Society. He was a long time member of the Parish Council, and attended church daily. He was one of the founders of the Joe DiMagio Little League at Mount Carmel Church. Joe was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St Ann Church and was always involved in church functions with his family. Joseph attended retreats at Calvary Retreat Center, and was recently presented with a fifty year pin for his participation and attendance. He bowled with Mel's Lunch Bowling League for many years, and enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball, and mastering jig-saw puzzles. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Joseph's funeral will be held Saturday morning, June 23, at 11 a.m in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held tonight, Friday, June 22, from 5 p.m until 8 p.m IN THE CHURCH.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Calvary Retreat Center, South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545, or to The Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in care of VNA Care Network, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01545.

Dear Mrs. Capp and family,

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Capp's passing. May he rest in peace. I truly believe there is a special place in heaven waiting for him. I always complimented you both on what a fine job you did in raising 9 children and it was obvious how proud it made him. It was a pleasure and my honor to have known Mr. Capp.
