Joseph E. Genelli, 81

Clinton - Joseph E. Genelli, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 16, 2016, following a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judi (Rose) Genelli; and their daughter, Jennifer Rose Genelli of Boston. He is pre-deceased by a daughter Jill, who died in 1995.

Joe was born in Clinton on September 8, 1934, the son of the late Julius and Antoinette (Silvester) Genelli. He graduated from St. John's Elementary School and Clinton High School, Class of 1952. Joe enlisted to serve our nation in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa and completed three world cruises. Following his safe return home, Joe began his successful career as a bricklayer and stone mason. He was employed with various local companies before joining Innamorati Bros. in Clinton, from where he worked as brick superintendent for more than 30 years until his retirement. He held membership with the Local #6 Bricklayers and Plasterers Union and the International Union Local #3. Following his career, Joe enjoyed working as a receiver for Victory and later Hannafords Supermarkets, finally retiring at age 75. He was a man of great faith and devout member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish in Clinton. He was a member and former Exalted Ruler of the Clinton Lodge of Elks #1306, former District Deputy and past State President of the Massachusetts Elks Association. Joe led the Massachusetts delegation and New England States at National Conventions and was very proud to be an Elk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday prior to Mass from 10:30-11:30AM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.
