Katherine Davey Obituary

Katherine A. "Kitty" Davey, 85, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY after a brief illness. Born in Hyannis, MA to Marshall and Ruth Spofford Pulsifer. Katherine was predeceased by her brother, Marshall Darling Pulsifer and her sister, Myrtle Ruth Pulsifer Hill.

Kitty was a graduate of the first Cadet Corps of Nurses, Russell Sage College, Troy, NY. She was destined for overseas duty when WWII ended. She worked at Albany Medical Center Hospital, stopping briefly to raise a family. She retired from Albany Medical Center in 1986 at the age of 62. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Kitty found time to become a Brownie and Girls Scout Troop Leader and PTO President at West Albany Elementary School. She was an avid bowler and belonged to the senior leagues for many years. She especially enjoyed camping at Schroon River Campsites and had a permanent site there for over 30 years. She attended Siena Basketball games with her husband until his death in 2009. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and enjoyed entertaining for her family and extended family. Her children were the special joys of her life, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Kitty was the loving and devoted wife of John F. Davey; beloved mother of Judith Jazz (Jeffery) of Auburn, MA, Barbara Crowe (Timothy) of Albany, Kathryn Clouther (Kenneth) of Peoria, AZ, Mary DiMartino (Mark) of Scotia, and John M. Davey (Robin) of Rexford; grandmother of Stephanie, Timothy, Sarah, Katherine (Katie), Matthew, Nathan, Aaron, Andrew, Lisa, Joseph, and Jaclyn; great grandmother of Zoey, Makenzie, and Natalie; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services Monday, October 18, 2010 at 8:15 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Loudonville at 9:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday, October 17, 2010 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Those wishing to remember Kitty in a special way may send a contribution to the Sisters of St. Joseph, c/o St. Joseph's Provincial House, 385 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110 or the Alzheimer's Association.

I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's death. I didn't find out about it until Tues. when Sister Grace saw me and told me. I was sorry not to be able to be with you at the wake. Your Mom was a dear person and I loved being with her at home. Know you all have a place in our prayers at this time.
