Lawrence D'Agostino Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" D'Agostino 86

Worcester - Lawrence "Larry" D'Agostino, 86, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, January 4th 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born in Worcester, one of four children of Antonio and Luisa (DelMonaco) D'Agostino. He graduated from Commerce High School, and on June 18, 1955 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, he married Phyllis Finocchi, and together they began sixty-one years of life filled with love, family, and friends. A hard worker, Larry worked as a machinist producing products, first for the Wright Machine Company, and then at the Jamesbury Corporation, now Metso Corporation, where he worked over 27 years before retiring in 1992.

Larry is survived by the love of his life, Phyllis; his three children, Anthony C. D'Agostino and his wife, Debra, of Leicester, Ann Marie F. Cyr and her husband, Jeff, of Worcester, Louise C. Ventriglia and her husband, Salvatore, of Oxford; his brother and best friend, Leo D'Agostino and his wife, Pina, of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren that were the lights of his life, Elisa, Jeffrey and his wife, Carisa, Stephanie, Angela, Gregory, Domenic and Zachary; a sister-in-law, Alice D'Agostino; five step-siblings; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A brother, Italo, and sister, Filomena, pre-deceased him.

Larry was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann and Our Lady of Loreto Church, the Greendale Retired Men's Club, Worcester Athletic Club, and the Jamesbury Retired Employees Association, where he happily volunteered for many functions. He loved woodworking, and was very skilled in designing and constructing almost anything with wood. Larry also enjoyed gardening, bowling, drawing, old-time radio shows, western movies, and swimming. Most important in his life was his family. He always had smile on his face and worried about his wife, children and grandchildren before himself; they came first in his life. Those special moments in Larry's life-the holidays, birthdays, family dinners, and all occasions when he was with his loved ones-are the times that will be remembered.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, January 8th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Monday, from the funeral home, with a procession to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann and Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd., where his Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St.

Dear D'Agostino Family,
My husband and I are so sorry for your loss and hope that your many family memories of all the good times will sustain you. We met Mr. D'Agostino only once, on the day when Anthony married my very dear friend, but his son stands as evidence of the kind of man he was.

So sorry for your loss prayers to you and your entire family.
Growing up I have fond memories of Sunday church & family togetherness.

My heart goes out to all of you. Larry was many things a husband, a father and a grandfather, he was remarkable at each one of these. He will be missed dearly but will live on in each and everyone of your hearts. Remember him with a smile on your face because that is what he would want. He is now your guardian angel and will always watch over each one of you. All our love, Lori, Chris and Colton

Dear Auntie Phyllis, Anthony, Annmarie & Louise; It is with a heavy heart to say how sorry I am for your loss. I have so many fond childhood memories of "Uncle Larry" from our Cape Cod vacations, trips to local beaches, picnics at the Rod & Gun Club, how he loved to chew gum, and how he helped with the T&G. He always seemed to have a smile on his face! He was such a kind and caring man. Heaven just received another angel! Love Lisa
