Lawrence Harlow Obituary

Lawrence H. Harlow, 70, of 35 Tolman Rd., Winchendon, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening in Heywood Hospital after a brief illness.

Larry was born in Rumford, Maine, August 1, 1937, son of the late Thomas L. and Sarah K. (Smith) Harlow, and lived in Winchendon for the last 11 years. He married his beloved wife, Dorothy M. (Powers) Harlow in 1987 and together they shared 20 wonderful years.

Larry will best be remembered as a devoted husband and a loving father. He was always thinking of ways he could care for his wife, children and grandchildren. His four granddaughters were a tremendous source of pride to Larry. He was a former Deacon at the United Parish in Winchendon. He was a member of the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion of Winchendon, the Ovila Case Post 905 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Gardner, and a member of the Elks Lodge #2226 in Derry, NH. Larry loved crossword puzzles, playing cribbage, boating, camping, and he was a passionate Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics fan.

Besides his wife, Larry is survived by three sons; Todd Harlow of Troy, NH, Kevin A. VanCott of Worcester, and Kenneth C. VanCott of Killingly, CT, two daughters; Amanda S. Dyer of Raleigh, NC, and Kristine A. McGee of Keystone Heights, FL, one cousin; Maynard Harlow of Cincinnati, OH, and four granddaughters; Emma Carey of Oxford, MA, Kaitlyn VanCott of Worcester, MA Kristen VanCott of Worcester, MA, and Aleesha VanCott of Killingly, CT.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service in the Fletcher-Hebert Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon, Tuesday April 1, at 1PM. A visiting hour in the funeral home will be from 12PM until the start of the service. Burial will follow the service in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
