Margaret McNamara Obituary

Margaret A. "Peg" (Kelley) McNamara, 79, passed peacefully March 3, 2011 surrounded by the love and care of her family. Her husband of 21 years Henry J. McNamara Jr. the first full time Chief of Police in Grafton passed in 1979. She is survived by her children, Debbie C. McNamara of Millbury, Reenie M. McNamara and her partner Gillian Sanders of Grafton; One brother, Francis "Buzz" Kelley and his wife Marion of North Hampton NH; Her son in law Bill Soucy of Worcester, Three grandchildren, Joseph Naikelis, Kasey and Billy Soucy; Two generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.She was predeceased by her daughter Judy Soucy (2010) and twin sisters Maureen Leary and Kathleen Rano Peg was born March 22, 1931 in Worcester the daughter of the late Francis B. and Mildred (Shea) Kelley. She graduated from Worcester South High School and has lived in Grafton 53 years. Mrs. McNamara first worked at Aetna Insurance Co. and then as a teller at Mechanics Bank (Worcester), Peoples Bank (Westborough) and Grafton Suburban Credit Union until retiring. She was a parishioner of St. James Church, a director of The Grafton Community Nursing Association, a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and an administrator of The Henry J. McNamara Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund. Peg was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan and she enjoyed caring for birds, playing cards with her family and longtime friends. The family suggests you honor her with memorial donations in lieu of flowers to The Henry J. McNamara Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Grafton Credit Union, 86 Worcester St., N. Grafton, MA 01536 or St. Jude Children's Hospital, PO Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103.

Funeral & Visitation

The funeral will be Monday March 7th from THE RONEY FUNERAL HOME SOUTH GRAFTON CHAPEL, 124 MAIN ST., SOUTH GRAFTON followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass at 12:30 PM in St. James Catholic Church, 89 Main St. (Rt 122A) in South Grafton. She will then be laid to rest with her husband in Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton. The family will receive people Monday March 7th from 10:30 AM to 12 PM in the funeral home before her Funeral Mass. A Condolence Book may be signed and directions are available at:
