Matilda Cappoli Obituary
WORCESTER - Matilda Irene (Getek) Cappoli, 95 of Worcester passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Shrewsbury Nursing Home.
Irene was born in Easthampton, Ma., a daughter of the late Polish immigrants Stanley and Viola (Sadowska) Getek. She grew up in Worcester and has lived here most of her life where she graduated from Worcester Schools. Irene worked as a case specialist for the Worcester District Court House for over 30 years before she retired. Irene enjoyed going shopping with her daughter Diane and spending time at her home in Cape Cod with her husband Al.
Irene's family would like to expression a heartfelt thank you to all the staff a Shrewsbury Nursing Home for the outstanding care and compassion given to Irene during her time with them.
Irene's husband, Cesidio "Al" Cappoli passed away on February 2, 2018. She is survived by her son, Albert Cappoli of Auburn; her son-in-law, Dr. Stephen J. Bourgault of Fitchburg; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dr. Diane Cappoli; and two sisters, Carol Sagnavich and Mary Getek.
Services will be held privately. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to assisting the family with arrangements.

So sorry to hear about Irene. I worked with her when I worked at the Telegram and Gazette and she worked at the courthouse. We would chat daily! The stories she would tell! Such a wise woman. She loved her family so much! Will miss her dearly. Rest in peace Irene, I'm sure you are entertaining everyone in Heaven.

I am very sorry to hear about Irene. My deepest sympathy to all. Irene used to spend time with us at reception talking about the court house days, times at the Cape, and of course, her family. Although sad, I know how happy she is seeing Al and Diane again. Rest in Peace my friend.
