Milton Costa Obituary

Milton M. Costa, 83, of New Bedford died December 26, 2011 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Joaninha M. "Jenny" (Leite) Costa.

Born in Freetown, the son of the late Manuel and Alice (Oliver) Costa, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.

Mr. Costa was formerly employed by Bay State Piping for over 30 years until his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Costa was a great father, was loved by everyone, always smiling, joking, flirting and was known for his cuteness and comedy. He enjoyed attending Active Daycare in Fairhaven.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Mary A. Barton of Webster, MA and son-in-law husband Thomas J. Barton of Oxford, MA, Wendy A. Costa Andrade and Maureen A. Costa, both of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Manuel Costa, Jr. of Plymouth and Gus Costa of Webster, MA; 2 sisters, Maria Alves of Mattapoisett and Vickie Duarte of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Nicole Barton of Oxford, MA and Jordan Dompierre of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Milton M. Costa, Jr. and the brother of the late Charles Costa.

His family will receive guests on Friday morning from 10 AM to 12 Noon followed by his Funeral Service at 12 Noon in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. For directions and guestbook, please visit
