Dear Fran & Family,
Our pastor, teacher and friend is now accompanying a Prophet, Priest and King! A Biblical scholar now enjoys the Word Himself. Mitchell is having fun in heaven...probably telling jokes...where Jesus never rolls His eyes.
Eternal things last.

Fran:
Bobby Comeau shared the obituary with me via email this morning. While I knew you and Mitch only when we were teens at Covenant Methodist, memory of his personality has lasted all these years. Mitch stands out as one of the most "alive" people I've ever met. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. --Al Mason

Just sending along my dearest sympathy. The impact the entire Chakour family has had on my life reaches far and deep. Mitch will be missed by many and remembed by more. We all know he is in a far better place, but that doesn't mean he won't be missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers

To Fran and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and may the love of friends and family carry you through your grief .
Mitch guided me ( Chet) as a new teacher back in the 60’s and played the organ at our wedding. His fellowship and Christian love will always be remembered.
May he know everlasting joy with God in his new life.

Dear Mrs. Chakour and family,
I think of Mr. Chakour so often and remember so many things. I loved his class in junior high school, even though Edgar Allen Poe freaked me out and still does! I remember how every time I would see Mr. & Mrs. Chakour at my aunt's house on New Years day or out about town, he would hold my hands and really care to know how I was doing and what I was doing. His genuine kindness and tenderness endeared him to my Mom and Dad, my brother Marc and myself. I always knew there was something very special about him and Mrs. Chakour - and Mitch, Jr. when I saw the band often play, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Now that I'm born again and saved, I know what it was. It was God's Holy Spirit shining through. I am honored to have known him and you. I cry when I think that he is so happy in glory with the Lord Jesus Christ who he loves so much. Such great comfort; we will enjoy his company once again - forever. We are praying for you and will continue too. P.S. Marc was really sad when I told him. Hope to see you again soon. Love, Denise

How lucky we are to have had the opportunity to know such a kind, honest, caring person. Like so many others, I was fortunate enough to have had the influence of Mr. Chakour in 8th grade. I loved reading the stories of Edgar Allen Poe! He will be missed by many.

Mr. Chakour has known me my whole life. He was a neighbor of my grandparents. We used to visit the Chakour's on our walks around the neighborhood with my grandparents. When I was 7 years old he told me that I was in my 8th year. It made me sound older, and I loved that. Every time he saw me after that he would ask me how old I was, and I would always tell him what year of my life I was in.
When I was in my 9th year, Mr. Chakour taught my little sister, Jocie, and I how to play Chopsticks on the piano. I have been playing it ever since. Last week I heard my youngest sister, Leanna, play Chopsticks on the piano. I had taught my sister, Jannelle, who in turn taught Leanna how to play Chopsticks. He has taught my family alot.
Mr. Chakour was the nicest and most generous person I knew. He treated me like family, I love him and will always remember him.
I am sorry Mrs. Chakour, I love you.
Love always, Jaqui Bohn

Chakour Family,
I too was blessed by the presence of your father. He also was my English teacher in the Middle School. I would often run into him and your Mom at Shaw's and he would always welcome me with open arms. Your Dad was a great man, he had a heart as big as the world. I will miss my occassional visits at Shaw's, but please know that God is with all of you now. Have faith in God and continue to carry his goodness in your hearts. My deepest sympathies to all of you.

I remember Mr Chakour who I was fortunate enough to have as my 8th grade teacher in the 70's! As I now home school my 8th grade son I teach many of the lesson's that I learned from Mr. Chakour namely expanding one's mind through Classic Lit and Comic Books. Mr. Chakour made our term papers less boring by allowing us to read and report on whatever we wanted to. Pretty radical for the 70's. But then the 70's were radical to begin with! Thanks for all the memories and life lessons! Lisa Cabello

Youll be missed Mr. Chakour- You were my 8th grade teacher and I still remember you vividly. You know someone made an impact on the lives of others when over 20 yrs later they are still remembered.

Mitchell and I shared the satisfaction and frustration of teaching for many years. He was always better at dealing with the latter than I was.
My relationship with him was more than professional. He guided one of my daughters through a difficult time.He also graciously and movingly performed the marraige ceremony for my wife and me and also led the funeral service for my father. We also shared a love of music for which he had a great talent. He will be missed.

Sometimes in life we are fortunate enough to have a teacher (1975?)who inspires us and makes a lasting impression on our lives. He was one of those teachers. Thank you, Mr. Chakour. You will live on in my memories. Sincerest sympathies to the family.
