Myrtle Jarvi Obituary

Myrtle K. (King) Jarvi, 93, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Sterling Healthcare Center after a brief illness.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney P. Grant and her second husband, Robert E. Jarvi. She is survived by three daughters: Thelma Bryan and her husband James of SC, Mary Vezina and her husband Leo of FL, and Sandra Sowa and her husband Richard of Clinton; three sons: Sidney P. Grant, Jr. of FL, Ronald P. Grant and his wife Sandra, and Edward J. Grant and his wife Nancy, all of Clinton. She leaves two sisters-in-law: Dorothy King of FL, and Barbara Stratton of Cape Cod; thirty-six grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, J.W. King; a sister, Thelma King; two grandsons: Edward J. Grant, Jr. and Michael J. Grant; and a granddaughter, Cynthia Burgess.

Myrtle was born in Ray City, Georgia to the late Joseph and Trudy (Registered) King and attended local schools. She began employment as a waitress with the former Maybarton Garden in Clinton prior to becoming a career Nurse's Aide with the Palmer and Clinton Hospitals. She held membership with the Finnish Club in Fitchburg and Lithuanian Club in Hudson.  Myrtle took great pleasure in admiring the horse races at Rockingham Park, and cherished time spent with her loving family.

A private graveside service is to be held at St. John Cemetery in Lancaster. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Myrtle Jarvi to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Online condolences may be placed at
