Nancy Dorr Obituary
She leaves two daughters, Molly Hogan of Petaluma, CA, and Martha A. Dorr and her husband, Donald Malenfant of Douglas; three step-children, Dudley A. Dorr and his wife, Rose of West Sand Lake, NY, Judith Stewart of Brandon, VT, and Carolyn Dorr-Rich and her husband, Earle Rich of Mont Vernon, NH; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, John A. Shepard of Chula Vista, CA. A stepson, John H. Dorr, predeceased her.
Nancy was born in Boston, the daughter of Oscar F. and Mildred (Davis) Shepard, and resided in Lancaster from 1952 - 1997. She was a graduate of Punahou School in Honolulu, HI and Graduate House, Boston.
During WWII, Nancy was Confidential Secretary for the District Postal Censor Territory of Hawaii. She later served as secretary to the Dean of Harvard Medical School, prior to her retirement in 1958.
She was a member of the Lancaster Evangelical Congregational Church, Northern Worcester County Board of Realtors, the Current Topics Club of Lancaster, and a member and Past President of Friends of Thayer Symphony Orchestra, So. Lancaster.
A memorial service for Nancy will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lancaster Evangelical Congregational Church, 793 Main Street, Lancaster. Private burial will take place in Eastwood Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
