Nicholas Marlborough Obituary
WORCESTER - Nicholas William Marlborough, 16, of Worcester, died Wednesday morning, October 17, 2012 after being stricken ill at home.
Nicholas leaves behind his parents, John and Lisa (Carlson) Marlborough, his older brother John Carl (known as JC), his maternal grandmother Barbara Carlson, uncles, aunts, cousins, and his cat Willy who he adored. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents John and Grace (Melander) Marlborough and his maternal grandfather, Carl F. Carlson Jr.
Nick had many, many loving good friends. They shared with him the many good times he had. Altogether they were the best bunch of kids a parent and community/neighborhood could wish for.
Nick attended pre-school at Lincoln Street School, grammar school at Clark Street School, Burncoat Middle School, where he had perfect attendance two years straight, and currently was a Junior at Worcester Vocational Technical High School.
For all that knew Nick, he was a wonderful, fun loving kid that had a heart of joy. He had the natural ability to bring a smile to everyone's face.
Nick loved all New England sports teams, especially the Bruins. He attended the seventh game of the Bruins overtime win against the Montreal Canadians in the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs, a joy he cherished.
Nick also had a love and passion for music. He attended many, many concerts. He had the good fortune of meeting many of his favorite performers and athletes, including Hillary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler Seguin, truly the thrill of a lifetime.
Nick had a fascination with roller coasters, and this past summer traveled to Six Flags New Jersey where he rode and conquered the tallest roller coaster in the world, Kingda Ka. The look on his face was one of joy and terror; truly unforgettable.
Lastly, his family, friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches and so many others are what helped Nick blossom into the incredible young man that he was. His parents and brother want to thank everyone for being a part of his life… thank you so much!!!
Rest easy Nick…you are loved by so many.
Calling hours are Sunday, October 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Monday, October 22 with a memorial prayer service at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Nick Marlborough Memorial Fund, in care of UMass Five College Federal Credit Union, 55 North Lake Ave., Worcester MA 01655.

Although I've never met you or your family, I am the mother of a 16 year old boy and can't imagine the tremendous pain you are experiencing now. I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. As the School Adjustment Counselor at Worc. Tech., I had the great pleasure of learning about Nick through his friends, classmates, and teachers. Such an amazing kid, every time I saw him he always had a smile on his face. We spoke from time to time, but never really got to hang out. The good really do die young.
