Paul Beard Obituary

Paul W. Beard, 73, of Gardner Avenue, Attleboro, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of forty-six years to Sarah (Fearing) Beard.

Born in Dorchester on June 13, 1934, Paul was a son of the late James T. and Elizabeth (Flynn) Beard. A high school graduate, Mr. Beard also attended Fisher Junior College. During the Korean War, Mr. Beard honorably served in the United States Army.

Paul was employed as a welder for the Matheson Corporation in Quincy and later retired as a welder from Massachusetts Engineering located in Avon, MA. Described as a dedicated husband, a good father and provider, Paul enjoyed deep sea fishing, cooking and gardening. Paul took great pride in gardening, raised vegetables and tomatoes and especially enjoyed cultivating sunflowers.

In addition to his beloved wife, Sarah, Mr. Beard is survived by a son: Michael P. Beard of Attleboro; two daughters: Sandra Lee Beard and Deborah Tangney, both of Attleboro and his four cherished grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Ryan and Sean Tangney.

He was the brother of the late Phillip Beard, James Beard, Alice Beard and Marie Beard.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 1 PM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro conducted by the Rev. David Meunier, Pastor of the Plainville Baptist Church. Paul will be laid to rest with full military honors rendered the U.S. Army in North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street, Attleboro recognizing his honorable service during the Korean War.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to: Plainville Baptist Church, 62 South Street, Plainville, MA 02762. An on-line guest book for family and friends to express condolences and additional information may be found at: www.duffy-poule.com.
