Paul Bonneau Obituary

Paul V. Bonneau

Cape Porpoise, ME - Paul V. Bonneau of Cape Porpoise, ME died peacefully August 13, 2021 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a long struggle with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart failure.

Paul was born in Worcester, MA on July 26, 1949 to Frank X and Jeannette Grenier Bonneau. He graduated from Assumption Prep and College.

Upon graduation, he took a year off and headed west to fulfill a dream by working as a cowboy, riding horses and herding and roping cattle in North Dakota.

Upon relocating to the Boston area, Paul turned his focus and artistic talent to the advertising world. Over the next 10 years, he was employed by Ingalls Advertising Co., working on accounts for TJ Max and Nissan.

During those his 10 years Paul returned to his first real love, painting, and used the city of Boston as his backdrop. At the same time, he worked towards and completed an independent study at the Museum of Fine Arts.

Paul and his wife Sarah moved to Maine when Paul was offered a position as a creative director for several advertising campaigns. His most rewarding work was producing public service announcements for aids projects, anti smoking campaigns and the United Way.

Paul never stopped painting during this time, creating mainly impressionistic landscapes. Throughout his life, he continued to study at many art schools, with his works appearing in many invitational shows and galleries. Through the years, Paul has generously donated his work through fundraisers to organizations such as the Maine College of Art, The Portland Children's Museum, The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust, PBS television, the Animal Welfare Society and more.

Paul leaves his wife of 27 years, Sarah Pinkerton, brother Alan Bonneau and his wife Karen of Newburyport, MA, his brother David and his wife Deborah of West Boylston, MA, brother and sisters in law, Charles Pinkerton of West Kennebunk and Anne Pinkerton of Kennebunk as well as nine nieces and nephews and two grandnephews, all of whom he adored. He was a funny man and will be missed by many colleagues, friends and acquaintances.

A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held at Atlantic Hall in Cape Porpoise, this Sunday the 22nd

at 1:30 PM.

I was so sorry to hear of Paul´s passing. He was such a special guy and talented painter. I have fond memories spending July 4 in Maine with Paul and Sarah at their neighbors - all energetic lobstermen. I send all my sympathies and caring to Sarah and the family.
