Peter Boutiette Obituary

Peter L. Boutiette, 60

Grafton - Peter L. Boutiette, 60, passed away unexpectedly December 4 after being stricken at home.

He leaves his wife of 16 years, Deborah A. (Bird) Boutiette and a son, Tyler. He also leaves 3 brothers: Paul Boutiette and his wife Pauline, John Boutiette and Kenneth Boutiette and his wife Susan; 2 sisters: Ann-Marie Kelly and Diane and her husband Michael Clements. Pete was pre-deceased by his sister, Carole E. Boutiette and by his parents Kenneth and Jeannette (Cadrin) Boutiette. He leaves several beloved nieces and nephews and will be sorely missed by his faithful yellow lab, Louie.

Peter lived with juvenile diabetes from an early age and spent summers with fellow diabetics at Camp Joslin in Charlton, where he progressed from camper to junior counselor to counselor. Friends he made there were a big part of his life until the present time. Pete graduated from Grafton High School where he was co-captain of a championship basketball team. He attended Fitchburg State University, where he also participated in university sports. He was the Plant Manager of Storopak, Inc. in Westboro for many years and moved on as owner and manager of Boutiette Refrigeration, Inc. Most recently, he built and managed Pete's Oasis Greenhouse in South Grafton, selling seasonal merchandise year round, including plants and flowers, pumpkins & Christmas trees. Starting out with one greenhouse 20 years ago, the business has expanded to five greenhouses. He enjoyed interacting with his customers every day and despite several medical conditions, Pete always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. Famous for his generosity and love of friends and family, he was known for hosting so many parties, from his legendary "hat" parties to celebrating the Super Bowl.

All are invited to gather with Pete's family and friends Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester Street, North Grafton, MA 01536. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 10 at 10:00am at St. James Church in South Grafton. All attending the funeral Mass are politely requested to go directly to the church. He will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Pete's Oasis Memorial Fund at www.petesmemorial.org.

Peter,
It was a privilege and a pleasure to have known you and to call you my friend for the last 40 plus years. Ted and my hearts are so broken but we find comfort in knowing that Carole was there to greet you. With a glass of wine of course. Give her a giant hug for us. I love you and I'll miss you. Keep them laughing up there in your new home "Pete's Heavenly Oasis"
