Richard Manzella Obituary

Richard J. Manzella, 66, of 15 King Philip Road, Worcester, died peacefully Thursday morning, May 22, 2008 at his home with his family at his side.

He leaves his wife of 38 years, Jeanne (Bourgea) Manzella; three children: Rae, Joseph J. and Richard J. Manzella Jr., all of Worcester; three grandchildren: Trevor Manzella of Worcester, and Alanna and Brianna Manzella of Millbury and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was born in Natick, son of the late Joseph J. Manzella of Shrewsbury and the late Beatrice (Petrucci) Manzella of Leominster. Richard was a lifelong truck driver. His passion for driving took him all over New England and across the United States and Canada. Besides his family, he enjoyed old movies, listening to country music and playing bingo. He will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank UMass-Memorial Hospice for all the wonderful care that was provided during his struggle with cancer.

Calling hours, at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Sunday, May 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. After cremation, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMass-Memorial Hospice, P.O. Box 2796, Worcester, MA 01613-9938.

God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come with me". With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away. Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hardworking hands to rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

May your soul rest in peace, for now you are free.

Love is stronger than death. So i must be content to know that. Love is not affected by death-it doesn't end, it doesn't diminish, it doesn't change. Instead, love is immortalized and eternalized through death. The possibility of that love ever being damaged or broken is eliminated forever. I'll put my trust in love.

We thought of you with love today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday,
And the days before that too.
We think of you in silence,
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories,
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our Keepsake,
With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping,
WE HAVE YOU IN OUR HEART...
We will miss you Grampy
