Robert William Bosma

Templeton, MA - Robert William Bosma, 90 years old, died peacefully at the home of his daughter, on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021. Mr. Bosma is survived by his four children; Scott R. Bosma of Worcester, Nancy Wokoun of Millville, Deborah Bernier of Douglas, and Sally Ward of Templeton with whom he lived, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Barbara F. (Wood) Bosma, brother, John Bosma, and sister, Christine Bosma.

Born in Whitinsville, February 24, 1931, a son of John and Gesina (Fenthur) Bosma, he graduated with the Northbridge High School Class of 1948. After graduation, he worked at the Whitin Machine Works until getting drafted in the army during the Korean War where he was on active duty until 1954. He entered the engineering program at WPI where he graduated with his BSME in 1955 as well as his MSME in 1958. He moved to New Jersey with his wife where he joined the faculty of Princeton University becoming assistant professor in 1959. Robert and his wife returned to Massachusetts in 1962 when he entered Norton Company as a Senior Research Engineer, retiring with the company in 1986. Mr. Bosma was a long-time member of the Village Congregational Church in Whitinsville. He enjoyed painting and pottery and was always trying to find creative ways to repair things. He took great joy in spending time with his family.

His final wish was to continue research and education by donating his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Massachusetts.
