Robert Kierstead Obituary

Robert "Bob"
Kierstead, 80
Daytona Beach, Fl / Worcester - Bob Kierstead, 80, of Daytona Beach, Florida, previously of Worcester, Massachusetts, died February 2, 2013, in the Health Care Center of Daytona Beach, Florida, where he had resided for several years.
Bob was born in Maynard, Massachusetts in 1932 and was the son of Kenneth A. Kierstead and Harriet F. (Bamford) Kierstead.
Bob is predeceased by his parents and two siblings: Jean M. (Kierstead) Carroll Dowd, who lived in Arizona and Richard B. Kierstead, who lived in North Andover, Massachusetts as well as a grandson John Robert Kierstead, who lived in Clinton and a nephew Kenneth who lived in North Andover.
He was previously married to Ellen (Polly) Pauline (Pollery) Kierstead, who resides in Worcester and then for many years to Doris (Wright Tatro) Kierstead and resided in the Daytona Beach area of Florida for the last many years.
Bob leaves his son, Robert (Skip) John Kierstead, Jr. of Clinton and daughter Sandra (Kierstead) Davis, wife of Calvin Davis, of Bland County, Virginia, and children Yvonne (Tatro) Britain, wife of Bill Britain, Albert Tatro, Steven Tatro and Darlene (Tatro) Shepherd, fiance of Tom Pierce, all of Florida as well as 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and a sister, Joan (Kierstead Schedin Kirdulis) Walker, wife of Randy Walker, of New Braintree as well as 9 nieces and 2 nephews and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
Bob attended the former Worcester North High School and graduated from Worcester Boys Vocational High School as a carpenter.
Bob lived on Dix Street in Worcester and owned Kierstead Kitchen Kounters for many years in Worcester and was a gifted carpenter and cabinet maker. He moved to Florida with his wife Doris and their children and worked as a cabinet maker and in several other positions there before retiring.
Bob loved baseball and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was an umpire for many years for Little League baseball in the Worcester and Edgewater / New Smyrna Beach Florida areas.
Bob's major hobby in his later years was Karioke. He was known as "Karioke Bob" in the Daytona area and provided entertainment to many Daytona area establishments as well as performing free in Daytona area retirement and nursing homes. He was a true "ham" who loved sharing laughs and entertainment with all he met. Bob's single most endearing quality was the ability to share a joke and make you laugh.
A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation of time or funds to the Little League of the contributor's choice.

I have so many great memories of you. You were my second dad and taught me how to play baseball, we shared many "fliminems", drives to red and white for subs, and making a whirlpool together with grandma. So many memories that I can't list them all. I will never forget what you said to me while you were in the hospital...your now home with grandma. You were the worlds best grandpa and I will always love you!
