Robert Krikorian Obituary

Robert "Bob" C. Krikorian

AUBURN - Robert "Bob" C. Krikorian, of Auburn, MA, son of the late Leo and Sema Krikorian, died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife Judith A. (Powers) Krikorian of 54 years, his daughter Karen Hennessey and husband Kerry and their children John, Zachary, Rachel, Timothy, Andrew, Gianna, Paul, Matthew and Elizabeth of Windham, NH, his son Kevin Krikorian and wife Susan and children Matthew and James of Auburn, his daughter Susan Krikorian of Auburn, and his son John Krikorian and wife Emily and children Lillian, Katherine and Jack of Newport News, VA. He also leaves his sister Karen McGrail and husband Francis of Auburn, his brother Ronald Krikorian and wife Sally of Falmouth, MA, many in-laws from the Powers family of Leominster, MA, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bob grew up on Bancroft Street in Worcester, graduated from South High School, and went on to earn his BS Ed and then MS Ed from Worcester State Teachers College. He proudly served in the Mass Air National Guard 101st where he completed the fast track Electronics Program. Education was always of utmost importance to Bob. He completed many credits beyond his Master's Degree and encouraged his children, his students and others to make continued learning a priority.

Bob began his teaching career in Oxford, MA, then moved to Chandler Jr High in Worcester, and eventually returned to his alma mater South High School where he taught Physics and Electronics for 34 years. There he established the first Computer (TRS-80) Repair Program in Worcester. Bob was active in the early years of the Teacher's Union and was a lifelong member of many professional organizations including the EAW, MTA, NEA and MAST, where he also served as President. He proudly served as Tech Prep Coordinator and then as a Consultant for 17 years. Bob received numerous recognitions and awards, including "Outstanding Science Teacher" by Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers, and "Outstanding Science Teacher of Massachusetts."

Though he was accomplished in his role as educator, Bob always placed family first and was most proud of his role as devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a counselor and friend to many, particularly in the areas of property and real estate. He will be greatly missed by those who were loved by him.

In lieu of flowers, a Tribute Gift may be made in Bob's memory to either: CurePSP at 1216 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001 or online via psp.org/iwanttohelp/ways-to-give

Bob was a fabulous teacher, a patience mentor, a great friend and a very special person. With little fanfare, Bob gave a hand-up to many. Bob always had a good word, great advice ,and the time and energy to lend a hand.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Bob. I had the privilege of working with him for many years at South High. He was such a wonderful mentor and role model for so many, myself included. His kindness and patience in teaching the students before him was such an inspiration - he left an indelible impression on kids, and supported them not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. His beautiful light will continue to shine down on his family, who he loved so very much. Rest in the sweetest peace, my dear friend.
