WHITINSVILLE - Robert T. Sullivan, 60, passed away suddenly on Thurs., Sept. 26. He is survived by his loving wife, Debora; a daughter, Mary Sullivan and her boyfriend Eric Joyce of RI; a brother, Deacon P. David Sullivan and his wife Patricia of Norwood; a sister, Barbara A. Sullivan of Norwood; his mother-in-law, Stephanie Kielbasa and sisters-in law, Mary Kielbasa and her partner David Milburn; Janice Hanny and her husband Scribner; and Anne Marie Kielbasa and her husband Jon Pollard; many nieces and nephews and his wonderful dog, Sadie. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul A. and Margaret Sullivan and by his father-in-law, John Kielbasa. Born in Boston on July 27, 1953 he grew up in Holbrook and North Quincy before moving to Whitinsville in 1979. He was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Bryant & Stratton Jr. College in Boston, and attended the University of New Haven, West Haven, CT.

Bob developed a love for the game of golf at an early age and began caddying at Wollaston Golf Course in North Quincy as soon as he could carry a bag. His love of the game and the golf course resulted in his excelling on the course both as player and groundskeeper. He played on the golf teams through his school and college years. He was a much sought-after Caddy and Member Guest Tournament player due his extensive knowledge of both game and course.

He began working at Wollaston Golf Course while in High School and this began a professional golf course grounds maintenance career that spanned over 30 years, both in positions of Groundskeeper and Superintendent at many area golf courses, including Wollaston Golf Course in North Quincy; Wollaston Country Club in Milton; Glen Ellen in Millis; Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, Robert L. Lynch Country Club in Brookline, Millbury Amusements Golf Course in Millbury; and Quinnatissit Country Club in Thompson, CT.

Bob's career at BJ's Wholesale Club began in October, 1996. He was a valued Team Member in both the (former) Westborough and Hudson Clubs. Bob had a deep appreciation and respect for the hard working and wonderful people who shared the overnight shift experience. He was honored to have worked with so many wonderful colleagues and co-workers over the years.

Bob was a private man and enjoyed spending time with his family, including Sunday dinners, afternoon outings, and working in the yard. He delighted in gardening with flowers, trees, and shrubs, and especially enjoyed expanding these gardens with his wife. He was an avid sports enthusiast who thoroughly enjoyed following rankings and statistics. He enjoyed reading about all sports and history. Bob was an organ donor. His funeral was held privately. Arrangements were made through Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., WHITINSVILLE. My deepest sympathies to Mr. Sullivan's family for your loss. It has been a very, very long time, but I still have fond memories of Mr. Sullivan making giant piles of leaves for us kids to jump into in the fall. It's a silly memory, I know. My prayers are with you all.

Bob was a father figure and friend to all that knew him. I hadn't seen him in a long time but was very saddened to hear the news. He was a good man in a time where good men are hard to find and my deepest sympathies lie with both his immediate and extended family at BJ's.
