Robin Stewart Obituary

Robin M. Stewart, 60

Clinton - "Nana" Robin M. Stewart, 60, died Friday, December 15, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her loving family, after an illness.

She is survived by her son, Anthony J. Stewart, and his companion, Christine Glowa, of Ashland; two granddaughters: Emily Jane Stewart, and Makayla E. Lakin; two sisters: Karen DiLuzio, wife of the late Pasquale, of Las Vegas, NV, and Jane Dorazio, and her husband, Joseph, of Lancaster; three brothers: John Stewart of Winthrop, ME, Paul Stewart of St. Croix, USVI, and Michael Stewart of Lancaster; nieces, nephews, and their families, notably, her beloved "Nana Wednesdays" crew, comprised of all the youngest generation of Stewart kids, who she entertained at her home each Wednesday, turning her yard into a makeshift theme park. She was predeceased by two brothers: David Stewart, who died in 1992, and Scott Stewart, who died in 2015.

Robin was born in Clinton and raised in Sterling, daughter of the late Tracy and Beverly (Connor) Stewart. She attended local schools, and, at the age of 14, began working in the former Barre Restaurant, alongside her maternal grandparents, who owned it. She continued to work as a chef for more than 30 years at the former Old Timer Restaurant, Clinton, and, most recently, at RFK School, Lancaster.

A phenomenal chef and baker, one never left Robin's presence feeling hungry, as she always made sure that you ate, and ate well, while you were with her. She was a selfless woman, always thinking of, and giving of herself to others. This was reflected in the way she lived life every day, especially when it came to children, who she adored, and ardently supported, through organizations including Shriners Hospital for Children, and Operation Smile.

Robin was a member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish, and enjoyed trips to Maine, especially Old Orchard Beach and Booth Bay for girls' weekends; Edaville Railroad, the Big E, Las Vegas, St. Croix, and Foxwoods. She never turned down a game of cards, poker, scrabble, Texas Hold 'Em, cribbage, or board games.

Robin's funeral will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Please omit flowers; in lieu, the family respectfully requests that you consider making a donation in memory of Robin to one of her favorite charities for children: Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.

When Robin lived upstairs on East Street some years ago I was often carried up the stairs by the aroma of something wonderful cooking.. I was always welcomed in to her home amongst family and friends.. I believe Heaven will be a lot like that and now we know the cook.. keep the faith family and friends!

I am saddened to hear this, although I have been absent from the girl's weekend for quite awhile it pains me to know that Robin will not be racing to beat the sun somewhere in the world. Condolences to the family, and the extended family, for whoever met Robin, became just that, FAMILY. From parties, to the old restaurant we would hit up after a LONG night, to OOB, love you Robin. To the Stewart Family- find strength in the people around you, and Always keep her story alive.

Sorry to hear of the passing of this great gal! Many times when I visited relations in Clinton, Robin was the lobster gal. Just mention lobster ,and she and her sister Jane made sure my wife and I had our fill. She had a great since of humor and never complained. She will be missed by Tony her son the most ,but everyone that knew Robin will miss her also. I am her Uncle ( her Fathers brother )that believe it or not changed her diaper when she was little. She had a small wad of hair that stood up straight right on the top of her head ,and I was always trying to get it to lay down! Rest easy Robin ,you lived a full life although it may have been short, and I still remember years ago you always use to say " Have a Golden Day" Uncle Harold. Uncle Harold& Aunt Marie.
