Ruth Hobin Obituary

Ruth M. Hobin, 87

WORCESTER - Ruth M. (Boutilier) Hobin, 87, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12th 2015 in the Christopher House of Worcester surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth's husband, Raymond E. Hobin, Sr. passed away in 1995. She is survived by three sons, Raymond E. Hobin, Jr. and his wife, Tina of Millbury, William J. Hobin and his wife, Pamela of Sutton and Robert L. Hobin and his wife, Denise of Holden; five grandchildren, Kelly Merrill, Anji O'Malley and Raymond E. Hobin, III all of Millbury, Alicia and Nicole Hobin of Sutton; four great grandchildren, Jacob and Sophia Merrill, Connor and Morgan O'Malley; a sister-in-law, Margaret Boutilier of Millbury; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Lindsay B. and Odessa O. (Dorey) Boutilier, two brothers, Bernard and Lawrence Boutilier and three sisters, Mildred Simon, Relma Piper and Doris Pritchard.

Ruth was the youngest of six children, her parents emigrating from Nova Scotia and settling in Millbury. Strong family values were instilled in her at an early age, among them a robust work ethic which she practiced her entire life. She was a selfless and generous provider, and thoroughly enjoyed nurturing her three sons. Strongly opinionated but never overbearing, her guidance proved right every time. Quite simply, she lived for her family.

Although age and illness took some things from her, Ruth's convictions of family, so cherished by her, never wavered. She will be forever loved and missed.

Ruth was involved in Millbury High School sports and in the Star Harmony Drum Corp, where she met her husband. She worked for many years in the credit department for Sharfman's Jewelers in Worcester. She enjoyed hosting her family for Sunday and holiday dinners and also enjoyed vacationing at Cape Cod, Aruba and Hampton Beach.

Ruth's calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 15th from 5 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 16th at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main Street in Millbury. Entombment next to her husband will follow in the St. John's Mausoleum in Worcester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or at www.alz.org.
