Salvatore Candilora, 92

Shrewsbury - Salvatore Candilora, 92, died peacefully on Sunday December 13, 2015 at Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Salvatore was the loving husband of 70 years to the late Mary Candilora. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Salvatore is a veteran of the US Army Air Force serving in World War II in the Pacific as a radar operator. After the war, Salvatore worked in the music licensing business as an executive vice president with SESAC in New York. Salvatore leaves his daughter Linda Cristini and her husband Larry of Grafton, MA and son Vincent Candilora and his wife Cynthia of Franklin, TN. Above all he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren Lauren Chenevert and her husband Sean of Shrewsbury, MA, Lawrence Cristini and his wife Iku of Brooklyn, NY, and Christina and Allison Candilora of Franklin, TN. Salvatore was also blessed with four great-grandchildren who he loved dearly; Tyler, Camden, Brady and Emi. Salvatore loved sports, especially baseball and was a lifelong New York/San Francisco Giants and New York Mets fan. After retiring to Key West, Florida, Salvatore founded the Southernmost Bocce League and was a proud member of the Sons of Italy. Salvatore's family wishes to express their appreciation to his extended family at Shrewsbury Nursing Home who gave him so much love, kindness and compassion and in his final moments the Jewish Health Care Hospice. Salvatore's wish was for no calling hours but for a memorial service at the convenience of his family. He will be laid to rest with his wife Mary and predeceased son Richard in Key West where they will all be together forever. A memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Roney Funeral Home in North Grafton.
