Steven Gerard Obituary

Steven F. Gerard, 53

WORCESTER - Our Steven passed away on January 16, 2021 after losing his long-fought battle with addiction.

Steven was big, strong, and fiercely loyal to his family and his many friends-old and new.

He was an outstanding athlete and excellent in football. He cherished the memories and accomplishments of his stellar high school career. Steven received many letters of interest from colleges wanting to add his big size and talents to their teams. He ultimately chose the University of New Haven where he played varsity on a full scholarship for two seasons. Injuries ended his career, but he continued on with college and earned a B.A. in Sociology.

Steven spent most of his life working in sales. This is not surprising to anyone who knew or ever met him. He had a big, charming personality that matched his size and heart. He could talk you into anything, which led to a lot of fun for him and his friends over the years. His lifelong friend, Bill Guenette and first love and dear friend Kelly Chippas recently recounted some of the crazy and outrageous fun they had after being coerced by Steven.

Later in life Steven focused on small, seasonal businesses he ran in the Boston area. The endeavors allowed him to be in the community where he took pride in helping people who needed a break or a friend. Harvard Square was his favorite hangout. He loved the diversity; coffee with Harvard students; looking in on people who had no one; and hustling with the groups that came there daily.

Steven's big beautiful soul is gone too soon. Steven leaves a son, Ryan Glover of West Hartford, Connecticut; daughter, Olivia Gerard of Austin, Texas; his mother, Anne Gerard Mara; father, Douglas Gerard and his wife, Paula; a brother, John Gerard and three step brothers, Christopher Mara; Matthew and Jeremy Vail. He also leaves his uncle, Charles Cerrone and wife, Carol. He is predeceased by his step father, Michael J. Mara and his stepbrother, Michael S. Mara. Steven was a force that will be forever loved and missed.

A memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be announced soon.

Dear Annie, John and all who loved Steve...
Words can not express how sad this is to hear. Steve was known all over the "square" and beyond. His love for family and friends was the biggest thing about him. The only positive that I can pull out 9f his passing is that his pain (physical, mental and spiritual) is now gone. Fly high big guy...

There is not enough to be said about Steve, in a simple compliment. He was a man of integrity and always expressed love for everyone. He was the epitomy of "Cool". He was the perfect combination of brilliance and bronze. Steve will be forever missed by anyone that knew him. I will miss you and love you always Stevie,

Dear Annie, Doug and John,
I am so fortunate to have had Steve in my life.
He was such a wonderful person and always smiling during all the years dating Kelly.
I will remember him and smile with all the great memories over the years. He was so helpful on the many trips to my Moms house on the Cape .
He was first to grab the saw and trim her many trees and any other projects she would find for him while the rest of us waited to go to the beach.
We all loved Steve and will hold on to those many fun memories .
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Love,
Alicia
