Stuart Barnard Obituary

In Worcester, September 29. Born July 27, 1914 in Providence, R.I., son of Thomas Albert Barnard and Blanche Smith Barnard. Raised in Winchester, MA, residing in Stoneham and Sudbury, MA, Sarasota, FL, and Boylston, MA. He graduated Tri-State College in 1940, and was a life member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943, and earned a commission as an electronics specialist. He was a registered professional engineer, and retired from M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratories in 1979. His life-long hobby was jazz record collecting, and in later years, he enjoyed oil painting.

He is survived by his wife, Alma; son Curt of Westminster and his wife Cheryl, and son Rick of Grafton; granddaughters, Sara of W. Palm Beach, FL and Kathryn of Westminster, and grandson Adam of Leeds, MA; sister Lois Edwards of Plympton; nephews, Stephen O'Brien of Leominster, Craig Edwards and Rodney Edwards of Woburn, and niece Laurel Volpe of Pembroke. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth O'Brien of Lexington, and niece Joanne Riccardi of Marlboro.

Funeral Services are private, with Interment and Military Honors at Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Salvation Army, 640 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603. The Brasco and Sons Memorial of Waltham is assisting the Barnard Family with arrangements.
