Susan M. Spelman, 76

Southbridge - Susan M. (Coffey) Spelman, 76, passed away on Monday, Feb. 13th 2017, in the Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 50 years, Clifford G. Spelman; her three children, Colleen M. Dowling and her husband Desmond of Millbury, Peter M. Spelman and his wife Daniella of Southbridge and Jennifer M. McGuire and her husband Ron of Manchester, ME; her sister, Constance Kennedy of Bloomfield, CT; three grandchildren, Brianna Spelman, Shannon Daigle and Collin McGuire; and a great granddaughter, Jamie Daigle. She was born in Hartford, CT the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Colehan) Coffey.

Susan worked at JC Penney in Sturbridge for 16 years, retiring several years ago. She previously worked for Horne and Hastings Reality. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Southbridge and was a member of the church choir. She loved music, especially Barry Manilow. She enjoyed reading books by Danielle Steele and doing word puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was especially fond of times spent with her family on summer vacations to coastal locations and annually to Long Lake in Maine.

A Funeral Mass for Susan will be held on Friday, Feb. 17th, at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church of St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in New Notre Dame cemetery, Southbridge. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association MA Chapter 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
